Pet supplement maker adds Fort Collins manufacturing facility

FORT COLLINS — Fort Collins pet food supplement maker PetDine LLC has ramped up its operations with the addition of a 10,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Fort Collins at 4500 Innovation Drive.

The company, with headquarters at 4700 Innovation Drive, already operates a 220,000-square-foot facility in Harvard, Illinois. The new facility will specialize in liquid food toppers — one popular line of products that the company produces for other pet-food companies. It also will produce hip and joint supplements.

Considered a private-label manufacturer, PetDine produces customized pet products such as soft chews and powder supplements for its clients.

The new Fort Collins facility will serve as an adjunct space to the company’s Illinois facility and will double production capacity for liquid food toppers, the company said in a press release. The liquid toppers are manufactured to the specifications of client companies, which then place their labels on the products, according to Justin Boling, company spokesman.

“We have no in-house brands. Clients come to us with ideas, and PetDine produces them,” Boling said.

In a written statement, PetDine CEO Preston Munsch said the pet products industry is fast-paced and growing rapidly. “Increasing production capacity and staying on the cutting edge of manufacturing will help us speed up our clients’ go-to-market timelines and maintain leadership within the industry,” he said.

The company’s newly hired senior production manager, Jay Sokolowski, will oversee manufacturing operations in Colorado, including plants in Fort Collins, Greeley and Loveland.

Boling said that the Greeley facility is a fulfillment center and warehouse for ingredients and finished products. The Loveland facility produces pet treats for its BarkDine and NutriDine product lines.

PetDine’s production process uses no water, which can produce mold, and no heat, which can change the integrity, viability and structure of the product or chew, the company said. Products are manufactured without ingredients such as corn, wheat, sugars, salts, artificial colors and gumming agents.

“Whether it is liquid pet food toppers, natural animal chews or powders, we want to provide the best health benefits to our four-legged friends and outstanding results at a faster pace for our clients,” Sokolowski said.

The company, founded in 2015, has quietly grown in the area. “I was employee number 10 or 11 a couple of years ago,” Boling said. Now, the company employs about 65 people, almost all of them in Colorado.

The company does not share revenue numbers, but Boling said revenue has tripled during the past three years. Company materials say that PetDine is the largest pet-supplement manufacturer in North America, which Boling said is based on square feet of manufacturing space.
