BizWest wins writing, reporting awards from SPJ

DENVER — The Society of Professional Journalists has recognized BizWest with three awards in the annual Top of the Rockies Excellence in Journalism Awards.

The Top of the Rockies contest involves journalists from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Awards were presented Friday at the Denver Press Club.

Bizwest awards were:

  • First place, Business Enterprise Reporting, Jensen Werley’s story called “#WeToo,” which reported on impacts of the #MeToo movement on regional business.
  • First place, Business General Reporting, Shelley Widhalm’s story called “Tariffs hit home” about what area businesses are experiencing from recent international tariffs.
  • First place, Editorial Writing, to Christopher Wood.
