Boulder traffic-solutions firm lands contract for infrastructure in Superior
SUPERIOR — Intuicom Inc., a wireless solutions provider for intelligent transportation systems, is providing communications infrastructure to Superior to connect it to Louisville.
The Boulder-based company makes data solutions for long-range mobile networking, like what’s needed in intelligent transportation management, and it will provide the infrastructure for the town of Superior’s Advanced Traffic Management System.
The advanced traffic management software connects to computers that control and monitor traffic lights, said Joaquin Segl, sales director for Intuicom. But the issue Superior had was that it could not communicate with Louisville’s software at shared intersections.

“Intuicom is providing the data from those intersections to a central location,” Segl said. “We use sophisticated wireless equipment, almost like what connects your WiFi at home to your devices, but at an industrial scale, with different security features and frequencies so the general public can’t access it.”
Segl said that Louisville already has the software, and the contract for Superior will allow for secure communications between the two cities. He added that the advanced management software will allow for technicians to add more time to lights as needed and remotely manage the traffic system, without having to send maintenance crews to the site.
“With the rapid growth communities are experiencing in the Front Range, shared deployments of communication resources will become commonplace,” Tom Foley, president and chief executive of Intuicom, said in a prepared statement.
