Signs of softening in Fort Collins economy

Despite numbers released Monday that show a relatively healthy economy in Fort Collins, its chief financial officer says “we are starting to see some softening.”

The Coloradoan reports that sales and use taxes for 2016 are up nearly 2 percent through June compared to the same six-month period last year, and up about 2 percent from what the city forecast indicated. However, CFO Mike Beckstead cited a growing national and global expectation “that something is going to go south.”
