Greeley, Lafayette hospitals make Healthgrades’ top-100 list

Hospitals in Greeley and Lafayette were included Tuesday on Healthgrades’ list of America’s 100 Best Hospitals.

Banner Health’s North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley earned distinction on Healthgrades’ top 50 list, which recognizes the top 1 percent of hospitals nationwide “for providing overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of conditions and procedures consistently for at least six consecutive years.”

SCL Health’s Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, meanwhile, made the top 100 list honoring the top 2 percent of hospitals.

Healthgrades is a Denver-based company that aims to provide consumers with online access to comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.

The company’s 2016 Best Hospitals study looked in particular at clinical outcomes for many of the most common inpatient conditions and procedures from the years 2012 to 2014.

Three other hospitals in Colorado were recognized among the top 100 by Healthgrades: Centura Health’s Penrose St. Francis Health Services, which includes St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs; SCL’s Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge; and SCL’s St. Joseph Hospital in Denver.

Five states accounted for nearly half of the hospitals honored by Healthgrades: California (19 hospitals), Illinois (seven), Massachusetts (seven), Michigan (seven) and New York (six). Colorado and Pennsylvania were next in line, with five each.
