Comcast to offer 2-gigabit residential Internet service in Colorado this summer

Two days after CenturyLink announced that it was expanding its 1-gigabit Internet service for small businesses to Aurora, Boulder and Fort Collins, rival Comcast announced that it will roll out its Gigabit Pro 2-gigabit-per-second  service this summer to nearly 1 million residential customers throughout the company’s Colorado footprint.

The company also is immediately launching a 250-megabit service for Colorado customers immediately. The company’s fastest tier previously was a 150-megabit service for $115 per month.

No price has been announced yet for the 2-gigabit service. But the Denver Post reports that the 250-megabit service comes with a price tag of $150 per month. Comcast officials told the paper that it will roll out the 2-gigabit service “almost all at once,” with Fort Collins, Loveland and Longmont all among the areas to be served.
