XOR Network Engineering acquires Loveland-based Relational Solutions

BOULDER – Boulder-based e-commerce consultant XOR Network Engineering Inc. has purchased Loveland-based Relational Solutions, a large-scale database specialist, for an undisclosed sum.

XOR executives Herb Morreale, president of the company, and Trent Hein, chief technical officer, were unavailable for comment on the deal. A source from Relational Solutions who asked not to be named said the transaction closed Nov. 25, and that Relational Solutions already had one employee working at XOR.

All of about 10 Relational Solutions employees were expected to be out of the Loveland office by mid-January and to be working in at XOR’s offices in Boulder.

XOR was established as a network consulting firm in 1991 and has provided technical assistance to many of Colorado’s largest corporations. It has been developing and hosting e-commerce sites since 1994 and has worked for clients such as Whole Foods Market, Amrion, Lucent Technologies, the Colorado Rockies and Horizon Organic Dairy.

XOR was named to the 1998 Inc. 500, to Deloitte & Touche’s 1998 National Technology Fast 500 and has received the Boulder Community Network Award for “extraordinary support of technology in the community by a business.”

Relational Solutions, base in Loveland for three years, focuses on Oracle database development, installation and management.

“That’s one of the reasons XOR acquired Relational Solutions,” the source said.

Oracle, a brand name dating back to 1979, is an application that can accommodate a database as large as Amazon.com.

In May, XOR merged with RedShift Interactive Inc., another Boulder-based firm providing e-commerce consulting services.
