University Mall to get new look, tenants

FORT COLLINS – The 30-year-old University Mall in Fort Collins will get a major facelift that will include reconfiguring the center to include exterior entrances for all tenants.

Property manager Debbie Tamlin of the ZTI Group said the three-phase redevelopment plan includes recruiting a new roster of regional and national retailers.

The first phase of the project began with the relocation of A.E. Meek Trunk & Baggage, Cho’s Tae Kwon Do, Cost Cutters, and Gems and Gold to the center location previously occupied by Walgreen’s. The move was undertaken to facilitate construction of the mall’s first new anchor store.

“As part of the redevelopment project, one of our goals is to provide businesses that fit our consumers’ lifestyle and have broader appeal in the Fort Collins marketplace,” Tamlin said.

A.E. Meek was the first of the new regional tenants to join the roster. New anchor tenants are expected to join the center when the project is complete in the spring of 1996, Tamlin said.
