The thoroughfare closed on Sept. 14 in the vicinity of Bridge 53/58A north of Kersey; the bridge was severely damaged and much of the roadway was obstructed as the waters continued to rise.
Although there will still be ongoing roadwork, the road is now accessible.

“Opening this road is important not just for travelers,” County Commissioner Sean Conway said in a statement, “but also for farmers as this is a major farm-to-market route, for the Platte Valley Fire Department as this road provides a vital connection for their fire district, and for the Platte Valley School District.”
Contracted to Kehn Construction of Fort Collins on Oct. 2, emergency flood repairs have been constant. The primary construction contract amount is $964,550.
Additional repairs will continue for surrounding areas and Weld County Road 388, North East of County Road 53, is anticipated to be reopened on Nov. 1.
