Cooks acquire machine shop in Frederick

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Husband-and-wife team D’Wayne and Stacee Cook, operating as S&DC LLC, bought the Frederick-based machine shop and will keep the MBK name.

D’Wayne Cook said he plans to grow MBK’s client roster to include companies around the United States and overseas. MBK has hired five new people – one full-time worker and four part-time workers – as a result of the purchase, Stacee Cook said.

MBK previously had seven employees working at its 10,000-square-foot industrial space at 7450 Johnson Drive, which is in an industrial building just east of Interstate 25 near Longmont. The Cooks plan to remain at the current location, D’Wayne Cook said.

D’Wayne Cook formerly oversaw plant-development operations in Malaysia for the German-based company SGL Carbon, which makes carbon-based products and synthetic graphite. Synthetic graphite is used to make machines that can remelt steel, an industry that has grown in size in recent years as metal recycling activities have increased around the globe.

The Dallas-based Generational Equity mergers and acquisitions firm handled the transaction between MBK Machine Corp. and S&DC LLC.
