Izzio bakery elevates longtime exec to co-leadership role

LOUISVILLE — Izzio Artisan Bakery, an family-owned national bakery based in Louisville, has expanded longtime chief commercial officer Sara Kafadar’s role.

Kafadar, who joined Izzio in 2015, “will co-lead the business alongside chief executive officer Etai Baron, jointly guiding the company’s mission and vision, long-term strategy, organizational leadership and corporate reputation,” the company said in a news release.

Baron, an Izzio co-founder, has served as CEO since 2014.

“Sara has been an integral partner in building izzio into the business it is today, helping consumers rethink what they expect from their food, from the ingredients it contains to the care behind how it’s made,” Baron said in the release. “This next chapter builds on what we’ve accomplished together and the tremendous opportunity ahead. Together, we will remain grounded in servant leadership, strong customer partnerships and delivering the highest quality real sourdough to more tables across the country.”

Izzio opened a second manufacturing operation in Thornton in early 2026 in response to increased demand for its sourdough bread.

Located at 15101 Grant St., the Thornton bakery makes a total of more than 250,000 square feet of total manufacturing space when combined with the original location at 185 S. 104th St. in Louisville, BizWest reported in January.
