Real estate conference to offer 7 CE credits

BOULDER — Real estate professionals can earn up to seven continuing-education credits by attending sessions at BizWest’s Boulder Valley Real Estate Conference.

The event, to be held from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Limelight Hotel, 1295 University Ave. in Boulder, is BizWest’s premier real estate event of the year. It will include a comprehensive analysis of residential and commercial trends, data and key market segments, featuring many local real estate experts and panel discussion with the region’s top brokers offering their perspectives on mortgage rates, residential trends and commercial activity.

The day will open with a residential forecast from Jay Kalinski, managing broker at Re/Max of Boulder and Re/Max Elevate, and a commercial outlook from a panel moderated by Beau Gamble, president of Dean Callan & Co. Panelists will include Erik Abrahamson, senior vice president of CBRE; Patrick Brady, managing director of Savills; and Heidi Schamber, broker/partner at Market Real Estate.

Following the forecasts, panels will examine the forces shaping the Boulder Valley: how tax policy affects the tech sector, merger trends in residential real estate and the Sundance Film Festival’s impact on commercial and residential markets.

A discussion on the impact of MLS consolidation, brokerage mergers and private listings will be moderated by Lisa Wade, broker associate at Re/Max of Boulder, with panelists including Kalinski as well as Keith Robinson, president for strategy at NextHome Inc., and Clint Skutchan, founder of Twenty-Two.

Boulder Valley tech, aerospace, quantum and life-sciences companies are rethinking how much space they need, what kind and where. A panel bringing together innovators, developers and brokers to explore what drives site selection today will be moderated by Cameron Grant, shareholder at Lyons Gaddis, joined by Tommy Knoll, co-founder of the Colorado Innovation Institute, and Ben Molk, managing director of Crescent Real Estate LLC.

The Sundance Film Festival’s Boulder debut Jan. 21-31 already is reshaping how local property owners, brokers and tenants think about short-term value. A panel examining those impacts will be moderated by Matt Wiggins, associate vice president for economic vitality at the Boulder Chamber, joined by Josh Dinar, owner and founder of River and Woods and East & Co.; Jennifer Fox, founder and CEO of Fox Property Management; Charlene Hoffman, CEO of Visit Boulder; and Tonia Pringle, senior project manager for the City of Boulder.

Neal Marquez, Colorado’s new state demographer, will explain how demographic shifts will drive demand for commercial and residential real estate, and John Tayer, president and CEO of the Boulder Chamber, will lead a discussion of the first major update to the Boulder Valley Comprehensive plan, recently adopted by the City of Boulder and Boulder County. Joining Tayer on that panel will be Boulder City Council member Matt Benjamin; Bill Holicky, principal at Coburn Partners; Kristofer Johnson, the City of Boulder’s comprehensive planning manager; and Danica Powell, founder and owner of Trestle Strategy Group.

Finally, a panel of city officials will provide a rundown of the region’s top projects. Presenters will include Isabella Nunez, senior project manager at the City of Lafayette; Jack Hill, Erie’s economic-development manager; Longmont assistant city manager Jenn Ooton; Ellen Robertson, Superior’s economic-development director; Jeffrey Schreier, business development manager for the City and County of Broomfield; Boulder assistant city manager Mark Woulf; and Louisville economic-vitality manager Vanessa Zarate.

The continuing-education credits are provided by BoLo Realtors. Attendees will be required to sign in and out of each session in order to get a credit for that session. More information and registration are online here.

Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. and coffee and lunch – but not breakfast – will be provided. The conference will feature vendor booths and networking opportunities.
