AI adoption in Boulder Valley, Northern Colorado among state’s highest
The four counties that make up the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado are all among Colorado’s highest in artificial intelligence adoption, according to a recent Microsoft report.
Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) found that 32.3% of Coloradans between ages 15 and 64 used a generative AI product in the first quarter of 2026. That’s good for 15th highest in the nation.
Boulder County led Colorado in the AI adoption rate at 43.7%, Broomfield County was second at 38.8%, Larimer County third at 35.9% and Weld County eighth at 33%.
“Counties with larger concentrations of knowledge-intensive work tend to have higher AI usage, even after accounting for other county characteristics,” according to Microsoft’s report. “The strongest positive relationship appears in professional and technical services, followed by services overall, headquarters and company management, health care, information and media, and finance.”
