Boulder’s Casa Juani named one of Bon Appétit’s best new eateries

BOULDER — Casa Juani, a high-end Spanish restaurant that opened in February on Boulder’s Pearl Street by husband-and-wife chef duo Eduardo Valle Lobo and Kelly Jeun, was the only Colorado eatery included by Bon Appétit in the magazine’s recently released 19 Best New Restaurants in America list.

“Returning to Spanish food and the traditions that shaped me has been so rewarding, but the true highlight of this journey is honoring my mother, Juani. She’s our north star,” Valle Lobo said in a prepared statement. “It’s a dream come true to be recognized by Bon Appétit Magazine for something that’s so personal to us, and we’re grateful for the chance to bring more national attention to Boulder’s incredible hospitality community.”

The chef-owners describe Casa Juani, 901 Pearl St., as “a seafood-driven marisquería with Iberian coastal specialties and regionally specific heritage dishes featuring in-house dry-aged products.” The restaurant also offers a robust Spanish wine program.

“This menu is our way of expressing ourselves as chefs together for the first time,” Jeun said in a statement. “It’s beautiful to work alongside Eduardo as he shares his Spanish roots and honors his mother. When we tell people the name is Casa Juani, it is always met with a big, heartwarming smile.”
