Chewy to open Fort Collins veterinary clinic Friday

FORT COLLINS — Chewy Vet Care will open a veterinary clinic Friday in Fort Collins, and plans a grand-opening “pawty” next week.

The business, the chain’s seventh in Colorado, will open at 2860 E. Harmony Road, Suite 110, in a space that had housed a Carbon Health Urgent Care location. Chewy also has a clinic at 459 McCaslin Blvd. in Louisville.

The “pawty” for pets and people from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 25 will give prospective clients and their owners a chance to meet the staff. Included will be giveaways including personalized pet tags, treats for people and pets, Pet-friendly photo booth pics and tours of the practice.

Chewy Inc. (NYSE: CHWY), known mostly for its e-commerce pet-supply business, was founded in 2011 by Ryan Cohen and Michael Day, who bootstrapped the company before securing $15 million in funding in 2013. The company scaled rapidly to more than $2 billion in annual sales by 2017.

Chewy completed its initial public offering in June 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic caused a massive spike in sales and new customers.

It launched a Connect with a Vet telehealth service in 2020, a PracticeHub in 2021 as a platform to help independent veterinarians streamline their online pharmacies and prescriptions, and Chewy Insurance in 2023 in partnership with Trupanion to offer pet-health coverage. 

Chewy entered the physical pet-care space by launching Chewy Vet Care in early 2024, with its first veterinary clinic opening in Plantation, Florida.
