Fort Collins Rescue Mission breaks ground on new facility
FORT COLLINS — Fort Collins Rescue Mission broke ground Sept. 26 on its new homeless resolution center, a facility that will enable the nonprofit to expand its services.
The center at 1355 Mason St. will feature 250 shelter beds, a kitchen and dining room, and expanded day services for men and women. It also will provide more-robust case management, according to a press release.
Construction of the $27.5 million facility is expected to take 12 to 14 months. Fort Collins Rescue Mission’s “More Than …” campaign has raised $27.3 million to date.
Fort Collins Rescue Mission has been located on the corner of Linden and Jefferson streets since its opening more than 12 years ago. But increased demand has meant that the facility turned away 1,247 people in the past year, according to a press release.
“We are going to have a facility to help more people escape homelessness than ever before,” Seth Forwood, vice president of programs for Fort Collins Rescue Mission, said in a statement. “The Mission will have more staff, more resources and more assistance than our current location can currently support to help with life transformation and guiding them to more stable housing.”
