Fort Collins URA wants to acquire motel through eminent domain
FORT COLLINS — Larimer District Court is being asked by the Fort Collins Urban Renewal Authority to let it acquire the former El Palomino Motel through eminent domain and condemn it.
According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, inspections at the motel at 1220 N. College Ave. revealed methamphetamine, asbestos and groundwater contamination. The URA had been under contract with seller Globok LLC to buy the site for $2.6 million, but that agreement was contingent on due diligence activities, which showed the property wasn’t worth what the URA had offered.
Larimer District Court is being asked by the Fort Collins Urban Renewal Authority to let it acquire the former El Palomino Motel through eminent domain and condemn it.
