Colorado bankruptcy filings climb 24% in November
DENVER — Bankruptcy filings in Colorado increased 24% in November from the same period a year ago, with year-to-date filings up 29%.
The state recorded 617 bankruptcy filings during November, compared with 496 during that month in 2023, according to a BizWest analysis of U.S. Bankruptcy Court data. Numbers cited include all new filings, including open, closed and dismissed cases.
Colorado recorded 717 bankruptcy filings in October.
Individual bankruptcy filings totaled 608 in November 2024, with nine business filings, compared with 481 individual and 15 business filings in November 2023.

Year to date, Colorado has recorded 7,144 bankruptcy filings, compared with 5,554 through November 2023.
November filings increased in Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties.
- Boulder County recorded 26 bankruptcy filings in November, up 53% from 17 a year ago. Boulder County recorded 13 bankruptcy filings in October 2024. Year-to-date filings total 251, up 9.6% from 229 a year ago.
- The City and County of Broomfield recorded eight bankruptcy filings in November, up from three in November 2023. Broomfield recorded nine bankruptcy filings in October 2024. Year-to-date filings total 92, up 77% from 52 a year ago.
- Larimer County filings totaled 38 in November, up 23% from 31 the prior year. Larimer recorded 45 bankruptcy filings in October 2024. Year-to-date filings total 413, up 19% from 346 a year ago.
- Weld County bankruptcy filings totaled 43 in November, up 2% from 42 a year ago. Weld recorded 57 bankruptcy filings in October 2024. Year-to-date filings total 577, up 22% from 471 a year ago.
