Eight Black to build new HQ, maintenance facility
LONGMONT — Eight Black Partnership LLC, the company that runs airport shuttles from Boulder and Longmont and provides a limousine service in the region, plans to build a 30,000-square-foot facility to serve as its new home.
The facility will house all of its operations, including a maintenance shop for sedans, SUVs and buses.
Simon Chen, the CEO and founder of the company, told BizWest that the new facility will be in Weld County but near Longmont, where the company has its office now at 205 Ken Pratt Blvd.
“We only have 16 months left on our lease,” he said of the Ken Pratt facility.
Chen said he has engaged Bill Lewis, a commercial property adviser with C3 Real Estate Solutions, to assist with the land acquisition and help with bringing the project to completion. Chen would not identify the specific location of the company’s future home; he said he has the specific parcel identified but hasn’t closed on it.
The new facility will be able to house 100 vehicles. The maintenance shop will accommodate diesel buses, but he expects to transition the fleet over the coming years to electric vehicles. The project will include EV charging stations.
“It will be the most environmentally friendly footprint possible with plans to include solar panels covering the entire roof section, recycled water for washing vehicles, and up to a dozen EV fast-charging stations,” he said.
“Having our own facility has always been my long-term plan,” Chen said. “The management team has collectively come to the decision that an investment of this size is the best for our future growth, our commitment to the community and our clients. We are excited about this next chapter.”
