Anadarko Petroleum Corp.’s closure of the Third Creek gathering system in Adams, Arapaho, Elbert and Denver counties has resulted in about a fourth of all orphan wells in the state.
The Colorado Sun reported that the system of pipelines that serviced many small operators in that region caused companies to go out of business, creating the orphan wells.
