Tri-State names Rudolph to new energy innovations position

WESTMINSTER — Wholesale power supply cooperative Tri-State  Generation and Transmission Association has named Reg Rudolph to its senior leadership team in the newly created role of chief energy innovations officer. 

Rudolph, formerly the CEO of the Tri-State member San Isabel Electric Association, will lead the development of competitive energy services.

“Harnessing the entrepreneurial spirit of cooperatives to drive innovation that benefits rural consumers  and industries is the next significant step in Tri-State’s member-focused clean energy transition,” CEO Duane Highley said in a press statement. “Reg will lead our efforts on important issues, including beneficial electrification, distributed generation and demand side-management, that empower every part of the cooperative value chain, from the consumer to the distribution system to the G&T.”

Rudolph has been in the electric utility industry for 30 years, 24 of those years as a CEO. At the San Isabel Electric Association, he created Empower, an energy services program that works with its  consumers to develop customized solutions that maximize economic and environmental value.

“Electrification not only drives opportunity for rural communities and economies, but is also the central driver for decarbonization,” said Rudolph. “It’s about delivering value as a service. Tri-State can work with its members, rooted in data and analytics, to optimize how we best utilize our energy systems, reduce costs, increase revenues and make a difference for all of our members.” 

“As we transition Tri-State and implement our Responsible Energy Plan, a key component will be to offer  members products and services to meet their individual goals,” said Highley. “Reg has demonstrated how San Isabel’s members find value in these programs, and I know he will bring his expertise and  experience to offer the same value to all of our members.” 

Rudolph will join Tri-State on Jan. 17, 2022. 

Among Tri-State’s members are the Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association Inc. of Windsor and United Power Inc. of Brighton.
