Organizers push Expo West 2021 back to May

BOULDER — New Hope Network, the Boulder-based organizer of the Natural Products Expo West trade show in Anaheim, California, has rescheduled the popular event from March 2021 to May 24 to May 27, 2021.

Expo West organizers said the reason for the change was due to uncertainty surrounding the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic next spring.

Earlier this year, New Hope cancelled both of its annual trade shows, Expo West and Expo East, after the COVID-19 outbreak swept across the country.

“As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 crisis and its impact on in-person events and our industry, we are confident the later dates of May 24-27 will contribute to the likelihood of Natural Products Expo West taking place in 2021,” show director Lacey Gautier said in a prepared statement. “We hope the additional 12 weeks will result in more of the progress and recovery needed to return to travel and to gatherings with the necessary security and safety assurances in place. We believe the connections made, and business conducted in, an in-person environment are essential aspects of our industry. We are committed to providing timely and transparent communication as we work toward our return and recovery.”

Expo East 2021 is set to be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia from Sept. 22 to 25, 2021.

In August, New Hope launched its Spark Change digital events and content platform, aimed at providing natural and organic product makers with industry information and virtual networking opportunities during the pandemic.

Upcoming virtual events include:

Modern Health: A focus on brands that support nutrition and proactive health and wellness solutions. (Oct. 7).

Organic and Regenerative Agriculture: A focus on brands investing in organic and other supply chain innovations that support human and planetary health (Oct. 28).
