Longmont’s PCD Engineering joins forces with Denver firm
LONGMONT — PCD Engineering Inc., a Longmont-based building design and engineering firm that focuses on energy efficiency and performance, has merged with Denver’s Lightly Treading Inc.
PCD is celebrating 20 years in business next year — the firm has worked collaboratively with Lightly Treading for nearly all of those years.
Lightly Treading founder Paul Kriescher “and I go back a long, long time,” PCD president Peter D’Antonio said. “Over the past year we’ve really deepened that relationship and explored what it could mean to join together. We really have a lot of synergies in terms of what we do. We have a whole host of clients around the country who will benefit from this [merger] and the expanding services we will be able to offer.”

Specifically, the combined company will offer an increased scope of in-house advisory services for building envelopes, which serve as a barrier between a structure’s exterior and interior features, D’Antonio said.
“PCD has historically been a firm that’s focused on the performance of building systems: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire safety systems,” he said. “Lightly Treading really brings on new expertise in terms of the building envelope.”
The combined firm, which is operating under the name PCD Engineering, provides engineering and consulting services for new construction and existing residential, commercial and industrial buildings. PCD’s primary clients are architects, contractors and builders.
The company employs 16 people and will maintain offices in Longmont, Denver and Cheyenne.
