Halliburton lays off 178 in state
GRAND JUNCTION — Energy services giant Halliburton Co., (NYSE: HAL) will lay off 178 employees from its Grand Junction office, according to information supplied to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment this week. The cuts are among 650 reductions being made in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and North Dakota
The cuts are due to a reduction in oil shale activity in the West, the company said, but told the state that the reductions were permanent, according to a report in the Grand Junction Sentinel. Most workers were given the option to transfer to other locations within the company, the Sentinel reported.
Halliburton stock closed at $18.27 on Wednesday. The company’s 52-week high was $42.56.
