Longmont to consider AveXis incentives

LONGMONT — Longmont would like AveXis Inc., a new corporate citizen of the community, to consider Longmont for future expansion and not other locations where it does business.

AveXis bought the former AstraZeneca campus in Longmont in April. In May, it is believed to have applied for and received a job-growth incentive grant from the Colorado Economic Development Commission. On Tuesday, the Longmont City Council will consider whether to offer $1.9 million to AveXis to expand in the community, according to a report in the Times-Call.

The city would receive tax and fee benefits if AveXis chooses Longmont for a planned expansion, the story reported.
