Weld County road to close for several months

Starting today, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Hamilton Construction Inc. will close Weld County 46 to through traffic for the next several months. The closure is part of Colorado Highway 60 bridge replacement project.

The closure will remain in effect until spring 2019, according to the CDOT.

Motorists trying to access County Road 46 will need to detour onto Weld County Road 25 — a detour of about two miles. Access to local businesses will remain open. Pedestrians will continue to have access through the area.

How dispatchable resources enable the clean energy transition

Platte River must prepare for the retirement of 431 megawatts (MW) of dispatchable, coal-fired generation by the end of the decade and address more frequent extreme weather events that can bring dark calms (periods when there is no sun or wind).

Crews will work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The completion date is May 2019.

The goal of this $6.7 million project is to promote safer and smoother driving conditions by replacing the current 790-foot long bridge with a new and wider bridge, according to CDOT.
