LOVELAND — Construction of the I-25 North Express Lanes from Johnstown to Fort Collins starts today near Colorado Highway 402.

The work will see the interchange at Colorado Highway 402 and Interstate 25 rebuilt. There will be three main phases of work in this section that will continue through mid-2020. Phase 1 will have crews build temporary infrastructure on the southbound side of I-25. Phase 2 will push northbound traffic to the southbound side to provide access to build infrastructure on the northbound side. Phase 3 will move northbound and southbound traffic to the northbound side so infrastructure can be completed on the southbound side.

Most of the work will be done outside the roadway, but there will still be nighttime lane closures. From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17 and Monday. Oct. 22 — weather depending — the southbound off-ramp to 402 will be closed. From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17 and Tuesday, Oct. 23, the southbound on-ramp to 402 will be closed.

There will be detours available. The route for the closure of the southbound off-ramp to Colorado Highway 402 will be southbound I-25 to exit 254, east to southeast Frontage Road then north back to 402. The route for the closure of the southbound on-ramp to Colorado Highway 402 to I-25 will be on 402, south on the southeast Frontage Road for three miles to Colorado Highway 60 in Johnstown then back onto southbound I-25.

There will also be a 120-day shutdown in summer 2019 on Colorado Highway 402 between the I-25 ramps. More information will be available in spring 2019.
