Southern Colorado express lanes may cost 15 cents per mile

DENVER — Express lanes between Monument and Castle Rock on Interstate 25 in southern Colorado may end up with the cheapest tolls in the nation.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said the tolls on express lanes to be built to alleviate traffic tie-ups may be as low as 15 cents per mile, according to a report in the Gazette. That would mean a motorist would pay $2.25 for a one-way trip along that route in the express lane.

In comparison, motorists on U.S. 36 between Denver and Boulder pay as much as 63 cents per mile, depending on traffic.
