Orthopaedic center to offer sports medicine clinics

FORT COLLINS — The Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies will open a youth sports medicine outreach program to benefit youth athletes during the upcoming fall, winter and spring seasons.

The program offers a team of experienced sports medicine physicians and resources for sports injury prevention, diagnosis and rehabilitation.

“With on-site medical coverage, free Morning Injury Clinics and a pre-season baseline  concussion testing, Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Youth Sports Medicine Outreach Program’s goal is to give coaches, athletes and parents confidence on game day,” said Carli Taylor-Drake, director marketing and practice development for the clinic.

Platte River must prepare for the retirement of 431 megawatts (MW) of dispatchable, coal-fired generation by the end of the decade and address more frequent extreme weather events that can bring dark calms (periods when there is no sun or wind).

Morning injury clinics will be 7:30 to 9:30 every Monday and Thursday, excluding holidays, at the Loveland, Greeley and Fort Collins locations. “Athletes have certified athletic trainers available for no charge and no appointment necessary,” said Taylor-Drake. “These clinics are made possible by a joint initiative between OCR and UCHealth.”

Pre-season baseline concussion testing is available for a $25 fee per athlete. Interested athletes, parents or coaches may contact Kylie Jasinski by emailing ksteffen@orthohealth.com or calling 970-342-0363.
