Aurora approves incentives for Amazon fulfillment center

AURORA — The city of Aurora has approved economic-development incentives to lure Amazon’s first fulfillment center in the state.

The Denver Post reports that the City Council on Monday approved $1.18 million in incentives consisting of a 36 percent sales-and-use-tax rebate on equipment for the facility, as well as construction materials. The incentives will trigger when Amazon creates at least 900 jobs with an average salary of $30,297.

The $130 million Aurora fulfillment center is scheduled to open in mid-2017 in Prologis Park 70, north of the Interstate 70/E-470 junction. It will employ 1,000 full-time workers.
