Canadian space firm to acquire DigitalGlobe
WESTMINSTER — DigitalGlobe (NYSE: DGI), the satellite-imagery company that recently relocated its headquarters from Longmont to Westminster, soon will have a new owner.
The Denver Post reports that Canadian space company MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, is expected to close on its acquisition of DigitalGlobe in the second half of 2017. The company is expected to remain branded as DigitalGlobe and will remain in Colorado.
DigitalGlobe employs about 2,000 people worldwide, including about 1,000 in Colorado. The company completed a move of its headquarters from Longmont to Westminster in 2015.
