Lawsuits loom over Banner Health security breach

Lawfirms around the country are weighing whether to file class action lawsuits against Banner Health after the health-care system announced earlier this month that a cyber attack put the personal information of 3.7 million patients, health-care providers and others at risk.

The Greeley Tribune reports that a law firm in Arizona has already filed such a suit in that state, while separate firms in New York, Seattle and Phoenix are considering do the same as they investigate the data breach. Despite holding some of the most data-rich personal records, health-care providers have some of the worst cyber-security, attorneys for the firms told the paper.
