Midtown Fort Collins business district stalls

The South Fort Collins Business Association failed to collect petition signatures from enough property owners in a 3-mile corridor in time to send the issue of funding a business-improvement district to the November ballot.

According to the Coloradoan, the delay doesn’t end efforts to create the district because the organization still can collect support from ort from owners of 51 percent of the assessed property value and 51 percent of the acreage along College Avenue and Foothills Parkway. But the district can’t assess or collect any money until an election is held under the terms of the state’s Taxpayers Bill of Rights. That election can’t be held before November 2017.
