Colorado revokes drilling permit for Kansas oil, gas firm
Kansas-based Benchmark Energy LLC no longer has permission to drill for oil and gas in Colorado after repeated violations and failure to pay a $1.27 million fine.
The Denver Post reports that the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission has revoked Benchmark’s permit. The COGCC says the company failed to report multiple spills in addition to other violations. In January, the COGCC fined Benchmark, but the company failed to pay the fine.
