Last movie-rental store in Longmont to close
Movie-rental stores. Remember those? Longmont still has one, but only for a few more weeks.
Showtime Video, 1716 Main St., will close for good on June 30, the Times-Call reports, after a 25-year run in the city, though owner Renae Herberger plans to keep her Loveland location open.
Movie-rental stores, an fixture in the 1980s and 1990s, have gradually gone away in recent years as kiosks like Redbox and streaming services like Netflix have gobbled up market share.
