Greeley-Weld airport to seek bids for office expansion

GREELEY — Bids will be solicited next month for a project that will expand and remodel administrative offices at the Greeley-Weld County Airport.

Airport manager Gary Cyr Sr. on Monday said the expansion will increase the size of the airport’s board meeting room that will be made available to aviation organizations, and community groups and clubs.

In addition to needing more space, Cyr said it will give the airport more exposure to the community and also provide a service to area organizations.

A prebid meeting is set for Tuesday, March 15, when contractors will be able to ask questions about the project. The airport’s airfield engineer of record, Denver-based Jviation Inc., will be on hand to field questions. The prebid meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in the main conference room at the airport, 600 Airport Road, No. A.

The airport will begin accepting bids for the project Tuesday, April 5.

Cyr said the project is broken into three segments: terminal building expansion that will add 1,746 square feet to existing administrative space of 2,100 square feet; adding an airlock to the west side of the entrance to the airport to combat strong winds; and remodeling existing office space.

The airport also is in the midst of other improvement projects including resurfacing its 10,000-foot-long runway and repaving the surface of its west hangar.

The airport is using a combination of funding sources including its own money, matching funds from the state as well as federal funds.
