Colorado Water Watch finds gas-contaminated water near Greeley

Colorado Water Watch officials say they’ve found one water-monitoring site in Weld County where gas caused by the exploration for oil and gas is contaminating groundwater.

The Greeley Tribune reports that the well is in a “heavily drilled area northeast of Greeley.” An official for Colorado Water Watch, however, told the paper that the thermogenic gas found is not toxic but could be somewhat of an explosion risk.
