Weld County commissioners redraw district lines; Platteville sees shift

The Weld County Commissioners voted recently to move the city of Platteville from District 2 to District 3, a move that will give the town new representation from the commissioners.

The Greeley Tribune reports that the commissioners made the move last week in an attempt to balance out the population in each of the three districts. Platteville now becomes part of Barbara Kirkmeyer’s district instead of Julie Cozad’s.

Each of the three districts will now have roughly 90,000 residents. District 2 in the southwest part of the county has been the fastest growing of the three in recent years as development booms along Interstate 25.
