Erie planning commission recommends denial of liquid waste facility
The Erie planning commission on Wednesday voted 4-2 to deny a resolution to allow the Front Range Landfill to add a liquid waste facility within city limits.
The Times-Call reports that proposal still must go before the town’s board of trustees for approval, but Wednesday’s vote will send a recommendation from the planning commission to deny the project.
Opponents of the facility cited things like increased truck traffic and environmental factors as reasons to deny the project. But landfill officials have said that if Erie squashes the project they will seek approval for the facility on a portion of their property that lies just outside of the city limits in unincorporated Weld County.
