Boulder investor buys eco-friendly cleaning-products firm CleanWell

BOULDER — Pinstripe Capital LLC, headed by Peter Resnick of Boulder, has acquired CleanWell, a brand of environmentally friendly cleaning products based in San Francisco.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

Pinstripe Capital was formed in 2014 by Resnick, who has been an investor in CleanWell since 2009. Pinstripe expanded that stake in CleanWell by purchasing all of the company’s assets from former shareholders.

CleanWell was launched in 2005 to provide antibacterial cleansers and soaps that use all natural and biodegradable ingredients.

Resnick will take over as chief executive of CleanWell. In a prepared statement, he said CleanWell will retain its current management, research and development, and operation structures in California, but it has opened a satellite office in Boulder.

“With increased scrutiny on potentially toxic and harmful chemicals such as triclosan, benzalkonium chloride and alcohol, we are focused on maintaining our leadership in the ‘green’ cleaning category through new product innovations, while maintaining efficacy and ingredient integrity,” Resnick said in a prepared statement.
