Trout Unlimited has concerns about federal treatment of Windy Gap reservoir expansion
BERTHOUD – Trout Unlimited, the conservation group that gave a crucial endorsement to a proposed Northern Colorado reservoir, says it is concerned that the federal government is ignoring key parts of a local agreement that protects the Colorado River.
Trout Unlimited and Grand County elected officials endorsed the project in 2012 after officials negotiated releases of Windy Gap water stored in Lake Granby to benefit aquatic life in the Colorado River.
A record of decision issued by the Bureau of Reclamation last month that advances the Windy Gap Firming Project overlooks some of those provisions, Arlington, Va.,-based Trout Unlimited said this week.
