First National plans 2nd branch in Longmont

LONGMONT – First National Bank of Omaha has applied with the city of Longmont to construct a branch bank in the northern part of town.

Omaha, Neb.-based First National wants to build a 4,000-square-foot branch bank with four drive-through lanes at the northwest corner of 23rd Avenue and Main Street.

It would be First National’s second branch in Longmont, the first operating at 915 S. Hover St., and its 25th branch bank in the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado regions, including six in Fort Collins.

Fred Jacobs, a vice president of marketing for First National, said the new branch will complement the bank’s branch in the southwest part of the city.

“Longmont is growing, and this will allow us to better serve Longmont,” Jacobs said.

First National Bank of Omaha acquired the property, a little more than half an acre, at 2305 Main St. for $1.33 million in May from Zhuo Yan Qui and Zheng Xiu Li, who had purchased the building and parking lot for $800,000 in 2011 from Loveland KFC Partnership LLC.

The property currently is idle, with a shuttered Ali Express Chinese Restaurant being the most recent tenant.

Jacobs said the building that housed the restaurant will be demolished, and that the cost of the construction project has yet to be determined.
