Zayo posts revenue gain but incurs loss

BOULDER – Bandwidth infrastructure provider Zayo Group LLC on Friday reported revenue of $264.3 million for the fiscal quarter ending Sept. 30, along with a net loss of $27.9 million.

Revenue was up $32.8 million compared with the same period a year ago and up $6.1 million compared with the previous quarter.

Boulder-based Zayo said in a press release that the revenue growth was due mainly to organic growth related to sales and expansion of its network, as well as acquisition-related activity.

The net loss was down from a loss $65.6 million for the same period a year ago, though it was an increase from the loss of $24.4 million last quarter. The increase in net loss from last quarter was due to an increase in interest expense during the most recent quarter.

Zayo has grown rapidly recently, acquiring Access Communications Inc. for $40.1 million and FiberLink LLC for $43 million in recent months.
