Study: Cigna, Kaiser among top-performing plans in 2013

Two Colorado health plans were named among the top-performing PPOs and HMOs by the National Business Coalition on Health.

Cigna Colorado HMO scored highest for consumer engagement and provider management, and Kaiser Colorado HMO scored highest in prevention and health promotion in an annual study called eValue8.

The National Business Coalition on Health commissions the study every year to provide detail on how plans control costs, reduce and eliminate waste, ensure patient safety, close gaps in care and improve health care.

The National Business Coalition on Health is a nonprofit organization representing more than 7,000 employers dedicated to value-based purchasing of health care services.

The Colorado Business Group on Health is an employer-led nonprofit that focuses on health care value and helps employers get more value for their health care dollars.
