Chuburger part of Coors Field renovation

LONGMONT – Just as it has reopened the balcony at its original Lyons brewpub, Oskar Blues Brewery also announced this week its plans to open a second Chuburger restaurant location, this one at Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies.

The new Chuburger will be part of renovations of the right field upper deck and concourse at Coors Field that include removing hundreds of seats to create a rooftop party deck area.

The open-air Chuburger will be the main food available on the deck and located nearby a 5280 Craft Bar that will feature 52 beers on tap. The original Chuburger opened in Longmont earlier this year serving beef from the brewery’s Hops and Heifers Farm, as well as other offerings.

Empowering communities

Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP), part of the UnitedHealthcare family, has pledged its commitment to uplift these communities through substantial investments in organizations addressing the distinct needs of our communities.

Terms of the deal with the Rockies were not disclosed.

Oskar Blues spokesman Chad Melis said the Longmont Chuburger has done well, and the company is looking at other possible locations in Boulder and Denver, with an announcement on the new locations possible by the end of the year.

“We’re always kind of looking for the right spot with the right vibe and set of circumstances,” Melis said.

As the new is ushered in, the old is finally coming back to life after last month’s flooding.

Oskar Blues is opening the balcony at its brewpub in Lyons on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 p.m. to close for the foreseeable future until the town gets water, natural gas and sewage service back.

Food and canned beer will be served from Oskar Blues’ food truck. Like all other Oskar Blues locations, $1 from every beer will go to Oskar Blues’ Can’d Aid Foundation.

Melis said the reopening is an effort to help bring attention to the small businesses in Lyons that have been devastated by the flood. Can’d Aid has so far raised more than $150,000 and distributed about $45,000 to residents and businesses in Lyons and Longmont.

“It’s a limited capacity but we’re getting open and really trying to create a place for the people here in town to have a warm hamburger and a beer and create a sense of community,” Melis said.
