Charity ready to disburse $636,000 in flood relief grants

The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado is ready to disburse $636,000 in flood relief funds and is seeking grant applications from qualifying nonprofits and government entities.
The Community Foundation has received $318,000 in donations via three charitable funds, which has been matched by the Fort Collins-based Bohemian Foundation for a total of $636,000 in grant money.
“We are still less than halfway to meeting our goal of $750,000 in gifts from individuals which will translate into $1.5 million for Larimer County with the addition of Bohemian Foundation’s matching challenge,” Community Foundation President Ray Caraway said in a statement. “While there are many ways to donate to flood relief, there are few opportunities to receive a dollar-for-dollar match. We know there are extraordinary needs to be met, and we want to take full advantage of the generosity of Bohemian Foundation.”

Applications can be completed and submitted on the Community Foundation’s web site at www.nocofoundation.org.
Applications will be reviewed in three tiers. Initial applications will be assessed by Community Foundation staff. If approved, the subsequent reviewers will be the three Community Fund committees, with each committee evaluating an application pertinent to its region. The final review will be determined by the Regional Grantmaking Committee, which will be appointed by the Community Foundation and Bohemian Foundation.

Applications will be reviewed and grants will be determined over the course of three funding cycles, with the potential for more based on funding. Deadlines for grant applications are: Oct. 22 at 5 p.m., Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. and Dec. 17 at 5 p.m.
