Dept. of Interior fracking rules rile many

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of the Interior today released an updated draft proposal for hydraulic fracturing rules that incorporated requests from some of the 177,000 public comments received during the last draft.

While the Department of the Interior touts the rules as “commonsense safety standards” that improves integration with state and tribal standards and increases flexibility for the industry.

Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead has been pushing for states to retain supremacy when it comes to fracking laws since Wyoming pioneered laws that require industry to reveal fracking ingredients to state agencies. But no word has yet come out of…
