Allen Ginsborg, managing director and principal of NewMark Merrill Mountain States, was named the 2012 Real Estate Entrepreneur of the Year by the Everitt Real Estate Center at Colorado State University’s College of Business. Ginsborg’s company acquired and is redeveloping Twin Peaks Mall in Longmont.

William Freytag, former chairman and chief executive of Boulder-based biotech firm Myogen Inc., received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Colorado BioScience Association at its annual awards ceremony, Industry’s Best of 2012. Freytag’s 25 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries include his time with Myogen plus serving on multiple boards including the BioFrontiers Institute, Board of Trustees of the University of Colorado Foundation and the Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority. Boulder-based Sophono Inc. received the Rising Star of the Year award. Finalists for the award included Boulder-based InDevR Inc., and Mosaic Biosciences, which has operations in Boulder and Aurora. Sophono manufactures implanted magnetic hearing devices. Headed by Jim Kasic, president and CEO, Sophono was launched in October 2009 and has since tripled the square footage of its manufacturing plant in Boulder.

Level 3 Communications Inc. (NYSE: LVLT) was presented with the 2012 Latin America Growth Leadership Award in Data Communications Services at the 2012 Frost & Sullivan Excellence in Best Practices Awards Banquet held Nov. 29 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
