3 Northern Colorado companies to compete for cash

DENVER – Three Northern Colorado bioscience companies will compete for a $7,500 cash prize at the BioWest Conference in Denver in September.

KromaTiD and VetDC Inc., both of Fort Collins, and Flashback Technologies Inc., of Longmont, are among the six finalists selected to compete by the nonprofit Colorado BioScience Association. The Venture Showcase contest takes place at the Marriott City Center on Sept. 11.

KromaTiD makes products to analyze defects and damage to human chromosomes. A veterinary life sciences company, VetDC identifies promising cancer therapies for animals.

Flashback Technologies Inc. has developed a noninvasive way to detect risk of cardiovascular problems.

The companies will pitch their technologies and business plans in front of a live audience to a panel of bioscience experts and venture capitalists.

More than 500 industry leaders, government officials, researchers and investors are expected to attend the conference. Along with the contest, the conference offers informational programs and exhibits featuring new technologies.
