New firm to aid government contractors

BOULDER – Two area companies have merged to form a new firm specializing in support for small- to medium-size government contractors.

ReliAscent LLC was created from the merger of Boulder-based Tech BizSolutions Inc. and Denver-based PBC Inc. Former PBC owner Russ Farmer and former Tech BizSolutions owner Brian Sperry will be the new owners of ReliAscent.

ReliAscent’s mission is “to assume the complexities of business operations and government requirements for our clients, so our clients can bring their unique talents, services or technology to the marketplace,” according to the company’s website, reliascent.com.

Governments often require contractors to have very detailed accounting, record-keeping and reports, according to a press statement, “which means many small businesses spend too much time either researching the requirements or trying to design systems to meet these unique requirements. ReliAscent plans to perform these tasks at a highly efficient level due to the experience and knowledge base, which will free up time by the small business owners to focus better on making a solid profit.”

Both Tech BizSolutions and PBC adapted standard accounting systems such as QuickBooks accounting programs to meet the government’s requirements, although in somewhat different market segments. For instance, PBC had in-depth knowledge of the government’s small-business incentive programs, while Tech BizSolutions specialized in federal acquisition regulations and contract management. Tech BizSolutions has extensive experience in operating small-business software programs such as QuickBooks and SpringAhead, while PBC brings more degreed accounting experience to the merger. “These and other synergies will increase the speed of service and the reliability of service will be improved as a result of the merger,” according to the statement.

“This means providing expert back office services (including accounting, payroll, contract management, HR, purchasing and even business development) to clients in the federal government contracting market,´ said ReliAscent chief executive Mike Anderson. “ReliAscent personnel know the requirements due to extensive experience in this particular market. This is all that we do. We are focused on these requirements and skills. We envision being able to provide compliance in all of these back-office services for companies so that the company can focus on the technical aspects that make their company money.”

The merged company’s new website offers tools to help clients stay compliant with government regulations, including a checklist for Defense Contract Audit Agency audit preparation and compliant timekeeping and a guide to maintaining Federal Acquisition Regulation compliance.

The merger also gives the new company two office locations: 5710 Flatiron Parkway, Suite B, in Boulder, and 1777 S. Harrison St., No. 350, in Denver.
